Diy Magic Cleaner put to the ultimate test!

I have an obsession with google image search. I can spend hours bookmarking diy projects. I mean am I alone with this one? I came across a post of from Rita at Pink Polka Dot Creations. Rita did an awesome post called "diy miracle fabric cleaner".

This cleaner is supposed to be able to get out, even the toughest stains! I finally had an opportunity to give it a try.

The mixture calls for 1 part Dawn Ultra (the blue version) and 2 parts Hydrogen Peroxide. I decided to take it a step further by adding some essential oils, banking soda and witch hazel.

STEP 1. Gather your arsenal. With two young boys I know some stains require you to get ready for war :-)

  • Fabric: I picked up a very old couch cushion that has seen better days.
  • Toothbrush: Totally not necessary, I used the toothbrush only on the test an area
  • Hydrogen Peroxide
  • Dawn Ultra Clean Blue
  • Arm & Hammer Baking soda
  • Spray Bottle
  • Essential oils: orange and tea tree
  • Thayers aloe vera witch hazel

Step 2. For the tester, swirl together 1 tablespoon of Dawn ultra, 2 tablespoons of Hydrogen Peroxide, .5 tablespoon of baking soda, 1 tablespoon of witch hazel, and 5 drops of orange and tea tree oil.

Step 3. Spray your test  area with the Magic Cleaner and begin to scrub.

Okay, it worked I like it, but how would it really hold up to a filthy cushion?

I Sprayed the cushion entirely with the cleaner, a quick trip to the laundromat and
drum roll please................

The results are seriously, AMAZING! I am so impressed. I would have never expected something that was not a store brought cleaner to come out this clean!

*Side note~The essential oils did not emit a strong fragrance. Next time I need make a diy fabric refresher to use after I wash.

Have any of you given this one a try already? What were your results?
